Arable Crop Genetic Resources and Plant Variety Rights
Crop & Food Research's arable crops genebank is a comprehensive
collection of germplasm of crop species of both agricultural importance
and research interest. The major theme of the collection is "landrace"
varieties of small grain cereals.

Access the genebank database
Current status
Collections of wheat (2500 accessions), barley (1380 acns), oats
(450 acns), field pea (67 acns), processing peas (205 acns), potato
(430 acns), onion (20 acns), and kumara (8 acns) are safely rejuvenated,
described and stored in the genebank.
The facility
- Genebank: 43 cubic metres maintained at 0oC and 35%
relative humidity;
- Seed store: 120 cubic meters maintained at 5oC and
ambient relative humidity;
- Drying room: 13 cubic meters maintained at 15oC
and 15% relative humidity;
