What is the Nutrition Information Panel Database?
The Nutrition Information Panel (NIP) database is an online tool that is designed to assist food manufacturers in preparing NIPs for their products. The NIP database presents seven core nutrients for more than 2500 foods and ingredients.
You can use this website to search the database for foods matching
specific keywords. Then use the nutrition data as it is, or in conjunction
with your own systems, to calculate NIP information for your product.
This website is NOT a NIP calculator but does provide some information
about calculating NIP information. We recommend you start by reading
the following two documents:
using the website (PDF
file 392 kB)
using the nutrient data (PDF
file 592 kB)
Please read and accept the Terms of Use before using this site.
Then Search for the foods or ingredients you are interested in.
If you find the recipe calculation process too complex and wish to contract
it out to experts in this area, please contact the
Food Composition Team.
