This website is designed to provide information
on the New Zealand Food Composition Database and to receive feedback
from users.
Plant & Food Research is responsible for analysing the nutrient
content of approximately 50 foods each year, corresponding to
2200 nutrient values. The food composition team at
Plant
& Food Research prepares a draft list of priority
foods for analysis approximately every six months.
Information on food and nutrition can also be sourced from published
research and overseas food composition databases.
In addition, the food industry can provide analytical data for
inclusion in the New Zealand Food Composition Database.
Contact Food Composition if you have analytical data you would like to submit.
The New Zealand
Institute for Plant & Food Research Limited and the Ministry of Health
jointly own and fund the New Zealand Food Composition
Database. Staff at Plant & Food Research manage and maintain the
database.
